The loops of Kims Ki have been viewed more than 800 million times on GIPHY, mostly by people who never learned the artist's name. This archive gives them one.
The reading
A GIF usually travels without its author. It is sent, reacted with, forgotten. THE KI treats the same loops as works: selected, titled, dated and placed next to the pieces they speak to.
The 36 works below were chosen from 161 in the public Kims Ki archive on GIPHY and span ten years. They move from physical assemblage in printed paper (2016), to faceted masks in daylight (2020), to cardboard theatre (2019), and finally to illustrated fables drawn in saturated colour (2025–2026).
The graph shows the decade in eight loops — the two strongest works of each period, linked by the idea that carries one into the next.
